I was educated at Edinburgh College of Art 1989-92 BA Hons (1st class) and the Royal College of Art (MA) 1993-95, setting up my business in London in 1995 and then returning to Edinburgh in 1999.
The circle is forever the starting point for each of my jewellery designs. Ancient chain maille patterns are my constant inspiration; I experiment with the scale, weight, form and texture of the chains, making necklaces, bracelets and earrings which are voluminous yet light, tactile and extremely durable. I am fascinated by unit construction techniques in jewellery making, I enjoy the way hard precious metals can be translated into soft forms which flow and stir with the body.
I prefer to concentrate on a palette of black and white (silver and oxidised silver). My aim is to create striking contemporary jewellery which can be worn for both special occasions and everyday.
Movement and comfort are essential requirements in the wearing of these unique handcrafted pieces. All of the jewellery is completely handmade in the studio, every circle is formed, soldered and finished by myself.
